Free online file tools that respect your privacy

FileTools is a collection of free online tools for the everyday jobs that nobody wants to install software for: converting HEIC photos from an iPhone to JPG, compressing images and PDFs so they fit an upload limit, resizing pictures for Instagram, merging and splitting PDF files, turning a video into a GIF, or generating a QR code. Every tool works in your browser, which means your files are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to a server.

Why it matters that nothing is uploaded

Most popular converters send your photos, contracts and videos to a remote computer, keep them for a while, and often add limits, watermarks or a paywall at the end. FileTools uses modern browser technology (Canvas, WebAssembly and JavaScript) to do the same work locally. That makes it faster, safer for sensitive documents such as ID scans, and unlimited: there is no signup and no daily quota.

What you can do here

Works on any device

The tools run in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. Video tools download a small processing engine the first time you use them; after that it is cached by your browser. Read more about the project on the About page, or check how we handle data in the Privacy Policy.
